Quentin is devastatingly handsome, way out of Laurence's league (like British nobility levels of out-of-his-league), and unbearably chaste. If that weren’t enough to keep Laurence away, Quentin's wild telekinesis is even more uncontrollable than Laurence's precognition. But Laurence doesn't want anyone else, and Jack is getting hungry.
Then Laurence foresees a glimpse of Jack's true plan. It will leave a trail of death across San Diego--and Laurence has been helping him do it. The past has taught him that the future can't be changed. But if Laurence and Quentin can't stop Jack, there won't be any future at all.
Jack of Thorns is the first book in a dark urban fantasy series where X-Men meets The Magicians.
Quentin d’Arcy may have survived a showdown with a god, but now he faces something far more terrifying: falling in love. And the secret he’s hiding from Laurence could burn them both.
Kane Wilson says he wants to make a better world—one in which psychics are out and proud without fear of reprisal or hatred—but there’s a trail of bodies buried in his past. Kane’s power is his words. When he commands, everyone obeys. They have no choice.
Everyone except Quentin. As the only person in San Diego immune to Kane’s mind-control, he is the psychic community’s last line of defense against Wilson’s murderous schemes.
The fire has been foreseen.
Quentin’s survival hasn’t.
Laurence Riley believed that he was nothing. He couldn’t have been further from the truth. Descended from Herne the Hunter, his own need to seek prey has long gone unfulfilled. Now it’s out of control.
Something ancient is coming to take Quentin home: a creature of nightmare who feasts on the flesh of children. But Laurence has seen the real monster. The one who is pulling all their strings from afar.
Only Herne can prepare Laurence to face an evil which far outmatches him. Their enemy wields the most powerful weapon of all, and will destroy everyone Laurence loves unless he can master the same power.
He must learn magic.
Frederick d’Arcy is determined to unearth the truth behind his mother’s untimely death, but the only witness is a man whose mind Frederick cannot read: his twin brother, Quentin. And Quentin is up to his neck in trouble half a world away.
That trouble’s name is Kane Wilson. As Wilson works to out psychics and kill anyone who gets in his way, Frederick enters into a deadly game of cat and mouse. He must outwit, outthink, and outmanipulate Wilson without revealing the extent of his own powers, or the vengeance he seeks could be snatched from his grasp.
This isn’t the Knight of Flames you remember.
Quentin d’Arcy has escaped his father’s clutches for six years, but the life he has built in San Diego is about to come crashing down. The skeletons in his closet won’t stay hidden.
The Duke of Oxford’s pawns are all in place. One move triggers a catastrophic chain of events: Freddy kidnaps Laurence, and Quentin is thrust into a race against time to save both his lover’s sanity and his own.
Every family has secrets, but the d’Arcy line is built on them.
Nothing will ever be the same again.
Tortured. Broken. Laurence and Quentin need time to heal. A layover in New York offers just that, but then Quentin vanishes in the worst blizzard the city has ever seen, and all Laurence’s Hunter gifts aren’t enough to track him down.
Two gods have warred for centuries. One is trapped in Manhattan, and needs Laurence’s aid if he’s to continue his vendetta. The other is confined to Annwn, the Land of the Dead. He needs Quentin’s help if he’s to win once and for all.
Unlike gods they’ve encountered before, these ones aren’t frail. Not even close. But there really can be only one, and Laurence must fight to save Quentin before they both get trampled into dust.
He can’t do it alone.
When Quentin is accosted by YouTube ghost-hunters with a crackpot theory about his mother, he writes it off as nonsense — until they kidnap him right off the street in broad daylight. Not even his psychokinesis can save him, but Laurence will. He must.
Except Laurence can't find Quentin. His powers have never failed him like this before. There's only one hope left: a stranger called Angela is willing to teach him more magic than he currently knows. Normally he'd write her off as bad news, but Quentin is running out of time, and Laurence is all out of options.
He has less than 48 hours to save Quentin's life, and no price is too high.
The clock is ticking.
Learning magic doesn’t come cheap, and the bill is long overdue.
Rufus needs his student’s help to solve his parents' murder, and after a year of tuition, Laurence has run out of excuses to put off witnessing the gruesome secrets buried in the past. But his vision only raises more questions. The mystery isn’t how they died, but how Rufus survived.
The only clue is a teddy bear nobody remembers, and it holds magic powerful enough to hospitalize Freddy, entangle a god, and hide a murderer.
Maybe some secrets are better left buried.

Between 1975 and 1981, one man brought a reign of terror to the north of England. His crimes brought entire cities to a standstill as women became too scared to leave their houses after dark. The thirteen slain women led to the United Kingdom’s largest-ever murder enquiry, with tens of thousands of people interviewed and hundreds of leads followed. It was an investigation led astray by a cruel hoax and devastating coincidences which would not be believed if they happened in a work of fiction. The crimes left over a dozen children motherless, led to family members dying of broken hearts, and destroyed the health and hastened the death of the chief investigator. In this edition of Murder Tales, H. N. Lloyd examines the life and crimes of the man the media dubbed The Yorkshire Ripper, but who his wife and family called Peter Sutcliffe. Free on Kindle Unlimited
In Murder Tales: The Poisoners, H. N. Lloyds looks at ten terrifying classic true crime cases where the killer's weapon of choice was a deadly poison. With the turn of each page, you will discover the fascinating facts of real-life cases that will chill your blood. Every victim, motive, trial and execution is detailed with H. N. Lloyd's eye for detail and macabre wit.
This much anticipated new instalment of the beloved Murder Tales series invites you to discover these classics from the annals of true crime, and lose yourself in tales of murder that the masters of fiction wouldn't dare to make up.
Murder Tales: The Granny Killers
Completely revised, re-edited and updated this new version of the granny killers takes an in-depth look at eleven murder cases that will leave you shocked and enthralled, and breathlessly waiting to turn the next bloodstained page.
Murder Tales: They Got Away With Murder
Among the true tales of murder featured in this volume are:
Maundy Gregory: The story of a man who was at the centre of a political web of intrigue involving power and money. Maundy Gregory became one of the most powerful men in Great Britain, yet his power and influence remained secret, hidden from all but a select few at the highest echelons of governance. When his empire was threatened, he turned to murder to save himself and his fortune. Like most powerful people, he got away with it too.
Tony Mancini: The Brighton Trunk murders were, at one time, the most famous murders in the annals of crime. Tony Mancini was the young thug accused and tried for one of these infamous crimes. Yet his acquittal led to one of the most shocking and defiant confessions ever seen.
Henry John Delve Broughton: When peer of the realm, Lord Erroll, was shot dead on a deserted country road, in the middle of Kenya, during the early years of World War Two, it led to accusations of political assassination, sordid love triangles, orgies and drug abuse. It was a mystery that intrigued for decades, until a confession came to light from a very unlikely source.
Harvey Richardson: The tale of how a photograph led to a murder, and how the failure of the victims friends to tell the whole truth led to a near half century long mystery, and how a confession found in an abandoned house led to a shocking final answer.
Christopher Smith: Be sure your sins will find you out in time, nearly forty years after a brutal murder, that helped to nearly derail the infamous Yorkshire Ripper Inquiry, the killer of a badly battered and raped prostitute was unmasked thanks to his having one too many drinks.
Complete revised, re-edited and updated this new edition of Murder Tales: They Got Away With Murder contains brand new material and is sure to enthral, horrify and confound in equal measure. Written as usual with an eye for the macabre detail and a delightfully dry wit, it is another fine entry into the Murder Tales cannon.
Murder Tales: Stranger Than Fiction
In Murder Tales: Stranger Than Fiction, H. N. Lloyd investigates crimes with an element of the bizarre, the unexplained, and the damn right weird. In this latest collection of true crime tales from the best-selling author and crime historian, you will find eleven murders that will send a shiver down your spine, and make you believe you’re reading a work of fiction, not fact. In this volume the cases include:
Elsie Frost: A young girl murdered on an isolated tow-path, a mystery that has lasted fifty years. Although the police claim that they believe the case is solved, H. N. Lloyd looks at the evidence of a conspiracy that continues to this day.
Scott Rogo: The murder of one of the world’s leading parapsychologists that has left one of the world’s most peculiar murder mysteries.
Charles C. Morgan: Hero or villain? The police insisted it was a suicide, a mysterious anonymous caller wanted the world to believe otherwise. Morgan’s death led to the discovery of mysterious messages written on bank notes, clues hidden in biblical passages, and a trail of murder as someone desperately tried to cover up the truth.
Each case will leave you haunted and questioning how real life can be so strange.
Murder Tales: Unsolved: The chilling true stories of the world's greatest unsolved murders
Jack the Ripper: Without a doubt the world’s most famous murder mystery, in this re-examination of the case H. N. Lloyd looks at the crimes, suspects and some of the stranger explanations for the world famous murders.
Nellie Clarke: The murder of a child is the most tragic thing in the world, when the killer is not brought to justice it can destroy entire communities. This little known case will horrify, chill and intrigue, especially Nellie’s last recorded words, ‘Help! Father Christmas is after me!’
Julia Wallace: Pity poor William Herbert Wallace, lured from his home on a wild goose chase across the city of Liverpool, only to return home to discover his wife murdered and the blame levelled squarely at him. This is the crime that Raymond Chandler ranked as the greatest murder mystery in the annals of criminal history.
Charles Walton: The murder of an elderly farmhand in a sleepy English village that baffled the minds of the best detectives the famed Scotland Yard had to offer. Were the rumours of witchcraft and human sacrifice true? And just what was the significance of the worthless fob-watch stolen from Charles Walton’s body, and the spectral black dog that haunted the investigating officers.
Marilyn Sheppard: The true life crime that inspired the film and TV series ‘The Fugitive’. Dr Sam Sheppard found himself accused of murdering his wife, this in turn set two generations of the Sheppard family on a quest to discover the identity of the ‘limping man’.
Zodiac: The murder of five young people that shocked America, shot and stabbed in cold blood by a masked killer. The killer taunted the police and the press, created a media storm and pushed a city to hysterical levels of anxiety. He was never caught, leaving behind a trail of shattered lives, scarred survivors and an enduring mystery.
Professor John Cartland: A father and son’s holiday in France ends in a brutal axe murder. Jeremy Cartland is accused by French authorities of murdering his father. British police investigate and exonerate him. Not only did this case put two legal systems at loggerheads, it led to the seemingly unassuming language professor’s unmasking as a spy. Was Professor Cartland the victim of a bungled robbery, murdered by his son, or was he the victim of a sinister conspiracy the origins of which lay in the darkest days of World War Two?
Written with dry wit and an eye for detail which brings a fresh perspective to even the most talked-about cases, Murder Tales: Unsolved is the perfect read for seasoned true-crime aficionados, or those wanting to be captivated, thrilled and horrified for the first time.
We all think we know the story of the worlds most renowned serial killer, yet the real story has been lost in over a century of lies, misunderstandings and half-truths.
In "Murder Tales: Jack the Ripper" H. N. Lloyd explores the complicated history surrounding the myth of Jack the Ripper. He explores with his trademark dry wit and eye for detail the evidence for a medical ripper, the evidence of the eyewitnesses, the methods and failures of the police investigation, the obsession that the crimes ignited at the time and today, finally he walks us through the suspects and peculiar theories that have so obscured the truth for over a century.
A must read for fans of the Murder Tales series, die-hard ripperologist or those who are risking the obsession of the Ripper for the very first time.

War followed. Humanity lost. And three hundred years later, humans are on the brink of extinction.
Orphans Thorn and Thistle live in hiding. They are the last of their families, the last of their friends. They scrape by, stealing to survive and living on the streets or hiding in sheds. But even under the brutal regime of the Suriias, there are places where humans can mingle in secret with magical sympathisers, and one night Thistle gets an unexpected offer of marriage from a Suriia with high standing and friends in all the right places. For Thistle, it’s a chance at safety and comfort; for Thorn, it’s a chance to find the ones who killed her parents.
And so the pair move into the capital city of Courtenz. An urban monstrosity of magic and might, false friends and flying cars, drones and death tolls, the new city promises a fresh start – and new love – for both.
But if there’s one thing Thorn knows for certain, it’s that dreams can swiftly turn into nightmares.
A Touch of Death (The Outlands Pentalogy Book 1)
A thousand years in the future, the last of humanity live inside the walls of the totalitarian Kingdom of Cutta. The rich live in Anais, the capital city of Cutta, sheltered from the famine and disease which ravage the rest of the Kingdom. Yet riches and power only go so far, and even Anaitians can be executed. It is only by the will of the King that Nate Anteros, son of the King’s favourite, is spared from the gallows after openly dissenting. But when he’s released from prison, Nate disappears.
A stark contrast, Catherine Taenia has spent her entire life comfortable and content. The daughter of the King’s Hangman and in love with Thom, Nate’s younger brother, her life has always been easy, ordered and comfortable. That is, where it doesn’t concern Nate. His actions sullied not only his future, but theirs. And unlike Thom, Catherine has never forgiven him.
Two years pass without a word, and then one night Nate returns. But things with Nate are never simple, and when one wrong move turns their lives upside down, the only thing left to do is run where the King’s guards cannot find them – the Outlands. Those wild, untamed lands which stretch around the great walls of the Kingdom, filled with mutants and rabids.
He tells her his name is Tamiel and he’s one of the Irin – the army of angels tasked with keeping demons from overwhelming humanity. But Tamiel broke a sacred law – he fell in love with a human – and now he’s being hunted by the same angels he once served.
With nowhere else to go, Octavia and Tamiel – along with Jack, the human in question, and her brother Caleb – appeal directly to Zev, the Demon of Games. A trickster of unparalleled power, Zev gives nothing for free, and the gift he offers Octavia to keep Tamiel alive comes with a confusing catch: He makes her the Healer of Raphael, archangel and Commander of the Irin.
Suddenly a target for both angels and demons, Octavia quickly learns that the only way to survive is to play the game better than they do.
The only problem is, she doesn’t know whose game she’s playing …
Unfortunately, not everything about the future is so advanced. The central planets, led by Earth, have risen high at the expense of cheap labour on distant worlds. Dissent is widespread and arrests are common. Sometimes prisoners are released; sometimes they disappear without a trace, sent to labour camps in other solar systems.
When Ames Emerys receives a letter telling him that his brother Callum has died en route to the remote planet of Kilnin, he takes the first ship he can off Earth, desperate for answers. But the secrets Ames uncovers prove far more dangerous than he could have imagined.
And trouble isn’t far behind.
The only problem? Paige has been dead for years.
Believing it to be a sick prank, Eliza tries to force it from her mind until Sam, Eliza’s older sister, tells her she met Paige only a few weeks before. And, according to Sam, Paige has nothing nice to say about Erik.
The fight which follows shatters the lives of everyone involved, and Erik disappears without a trace.
Five years later, Erik returns to town after his father’s death. Old wounds quickly resurface, and with them several burning questions. None the least of which is: Who spoke to Eliza and Sam if it wasn’t Paige? And why?

Sixteen-year-old Emily Haven, heroine of the girls’ hockey team at Lindsey High, has spent her young life keeping two secrets: her rapidly deteriorating home life and the seemingly supernatural power that makes her a star on the ice. When she begins seeing visions of a ragged boy reflected in mirrors and shop windows, a series of events unfolds that tears her from twenty-first century Minneapolis and leaves her stranded in another world with horrors to rival those she has left behind. Lost amidst creatures of fantasy and legend, she is forced to confront the demons of both her past and future to unravel the riddle of the mysterious boy and embark upon a journey to uncover long forgotten histories and the dark, cloaked figure in the shadows behind them all. Samhain has come, and this year, the harvest will be in blood, gold, and souls.
Walking past the imposing Arch of Titus and down the large and uneven flagstones of the Via Sacra leading to the Forum, the author sensed the unheard voices and the untold tales of the soldiers that gave their lives in honour of the hallowed ground. An abiding interest in the first two centuries CE of the the early Roman Empire led the author to relate a soldier’s tale. Charles Edward Williams lives in Dunedin, a coastal University city in the South Island of New Zealand.

Born and bred in Adelaide, South Australia, D. M. Wright has been conjuring up an eclectic mix of film-style novels and plays for as long as he can remember. When he first decided to put pen to paper and bring his ideations to life, he made it his mission to create a set of works that would leave even the most avid book adversary struggling to put them down. It all began after joining a sailing programme on the Youth Endeavour. From there, his first adventure story started brewing — and the rest is history.
There are no limits to the depth and breadth of his stories, many of which are derived from the plots of some of the greatest literature in history, as well as from his own life experiences. From tales of a shipwreck where it’s every man for himself, to a date that leaves a woman running with $150 million she never asked for, he adds a distinctive Australian voice to a whole host of internationally renowned reads.
When Wright isn’t navigating the pits of his imagination, you’ll often find him working as a support worker for homeless teens and the elderly. When not working, he’s renovating his house or taking sunny rides on his motorcycle through the picturesque Adelaide Hills.
D. M. Wright is a recipient of the inaugural City of Charles Sturt Arts, Music and Dance Award for his contribution to literature, and was awarded third place for his captivating narrative, St. Patrick's Church - Series Two, in the national Young Australian Christian Writer Awards.
Adored as much as she's feared, Corporal Elizabeth Mackenzie is nothing short of a full-blown enigma. Once awarded the Medal of Honour for her bold and arguably reckless efforts as a soldier, she eventually finds herself inching toward a different type of pedestal — one at Saint Judah's College.
With her eyes on the prize, she's on a mission to take the captaincy, whatever the cost. And one by one her competition violently fall.
Luckily, for Beth Mac, a doting boyfriend and a band of followers are far too easily manipulated for her to have to get her hands dirty. The school has its bets on the Grim Reaper being responsible. After all, that's who carried out the murderous rampage at the school just the year before.
Full of all your classic sorority debauchery, Part One will take you on a journey of mysterious happenings with a down-under twist and a whole lot of slaughter. Bloody, witty and outrageously mad, it's Macbeth like you've never seen it before.

History textbooks haven’t changed in at least thirty years. Imagine the author's disappointment when she realized her children were learning the same misinformation she did in K-12. Where the f*** were the women who refused to conform? Who refused to live under a man’s boot? The villains? The criminals? Did they not exist?
A handful of badass women are mentioned, usually in passing, in mainstream history books as a sort of appeasement for the feminist crowd—Sojourner Truth, Harriet Tubman, Cleopatra, Catherine the Great, et cetera, et cetera—but the author, a feminist, was not appeased. Or amused.
You won’t recognize many of the names here, if any, but there are some familiar names who merit a more honest accounting than they’ve been given. These are women who broke the law; who committed murder; who stole; who got a bad rap; who defied convention; who were so f***ing fierce in their own time that contemporary historians exaggerated their villainy.
You ought to meet these badass—and sometimes really f***ing scary—b*****s. Some will make you cheer; some will make you laugh; and some will make you mad.

The Fast Little Fox (The Fast Little Fox & Friends)
From narrating school plays to writing melodramatic short stories, Kim Greer has always enjoyed telling stories that entertain and enlighten. As a fiction writer, she imagines thoughtful but flawed characters who engage and enrage readers in her stories that celebrate love, mourn societal discord, examine relationships, and prompt us to take a closer look at ourselves.
Kim’s passion for connecting audiences with a good read has bled into all facets of her life. A journalist by training, she earned her BA in English Language and Literature from the University of Virginia and an MS in Journalism from Columbia University.
For nearly three decades, she’s helped corporations, nonprofits, and others tell their stories and build their brands. Kim lives in northern Virginia with her fabulous husband of 26 years, the youngest of their three sons, her 91-year-old father, and their Rottweiler, Oba.
Kimberly Greer wrote a story that portrayed the relationship humans often have with the truth when interacting with other people. There was nothing to dislike about this book. I rate it 4 out of 4 stars and recommend it to people who love an unpolished love story. --Unique Ego, onlinebookclub.org
From being denied by her birth parents to marrying the wrong man, Alexa Winston has learned to cope with disappointment and heartache by masking her true self from the world. Divorced and finally living on her own terms, she shrouds herself in half-truths and bravado, content to live her quiet, predictable life – until she finds the job and the man of her dreams. As she falls deeper into both, and into a world ruled by powerful players jockeying for influence and dominance at all costs, she’s forced to weigh her truths against reality. Trouble is, though she’s a master at detecting self-deception in others, she’s slow to recognize it in herself.
Masked Intent takes a taut, complex look at how we hide behind inauthenticity to guide us through our interpersonal relationships. It’s a timely and relevant story that asks a key question: what does it matter how many followers, likes, and upvotes we have if we no longer recognize the person we see in the mirror?
Masked Intent is the first installment in The Morality Plays Series and ends in a cliffhanger. The story concludes in Intents + Purposes, which publishes in early 2022.
Featuring monsters, creatures, and cryptids, from global mythology, a nameless, mystery man lives a life frequently interrupted by the Supernatural.
On dates, at work, at home, on vacation, even while gathering groceries or just using the bathroom.
He navigates the world on the precipice between the mundane and beyond, sometimes aided and sometimes not. However, beneath it all lies questions.
What is real and what is not? What is dangerous and what is misunderstood? Who stalks him through the veils of reality and wishes to remove him from existence?
And how can he protect himself when it all seems to loop back on him and the ones he loves?

Running from his past finally catches up to Jase Raion, an ex-member of the Ashen Guard and the Crown Prince of Chall. After settling on the island of Aria, he receives an unexpected contract: The lost princess of Aria was discovered living in the port town of Brighton, on the outskirts of the island Kingdom.
A trip to the markets in Brighton ends abruptly as Liya Fairaway stumbles into Jase. She vanishes in the busy marketplace when Jase realizes who she is, the lost princess of Aria and the bearer of the 13th Zodiac: Eternity. And his target.
Something ancient pulls them together, a bond that neither can deny. Reluctantly at first, Jase joins Liya and the other Zodiac to end the threat of Soren Raion, the King of Chall.
Time is not on their side, and Fate has other plans.
"I enjoyed the fight scenes and the supernatural themes. Another interesting development was the relationship between two people who are supposed to be enemies: Liya and Jase. The ending was immensely satisfying and rewarding. The worldbuilding was also great, for example, the idea that man was made with soil from the Titan of Urth and breath from the Titan of Sky." - Reader's favorite

Legends of Thelen and the Patrons
It should be victory. It should be the dawn of a new age of peace and reconciliation. The Dendaril have fled in full retreat, the Winnowing Ague that has plagued the Kingdom of Abelia for centuries has been brought to an end, and Magister, Mighty One and Royal Knight have exchanged cordial words and bled in common cause for the first time since the Foundation Wars.
It is none of those things.
In ending the Ague, Amanda Devereux may have destroyed the Kingdom of Abelia. In repelling the Dendaril, the Free Tribes have been ripped apart, fully half their number lured into the service of an ancient, inscrutable Master. And concealed by it all, lurking unnoticed in the aftermath of war, a woman long-since discarded as worthless by the powerful wrestles to control a power none of them could possibly imagine. Some call it the Wild Burn. The Daxalai call it the heiran. But it falls to Delys Amaranth, the mute Swordmaster, to give it the only name that truly describes it.
The fire in the wind.
When not writing, Jen can often be found pointing out historical inaccuracies in period dramas, being a Lady that Lunches with close friends and playing board games with her family. Note: her handbags are always heavy due to multiple books (just in case she needs them).

However, Quinn isn’t the only one to be working in Archives this summer; Quinn’s academic rival, Patrick, is sharing her office in Muniments. They’re competing for the Letter of Recommendation (singular) from the research historian that Quinn needs to get her dream future placement.
Their emotionally-loaded and competitive rivalry turns into a reluctant friendship, as they spend every day working together in silence (and sharing the occasional Twix). Until the Re-Enactors arrive. Between Patrick and Harry – the Golden Knight of the jousting team – Quinn’s carefully planned summer is thrown into complete disarray. Meanwhile, her best friend’s relationship may look perfect on the outside, but Quinn is starting to realise that there’s more going on than there seems.
Although Quinn is determined and single minded about planning every detail of her sparkling future, she comes to discover that the best things in life are the spontaneous ones – and that some people are more important than any Letter of Recommendation (singular) could ever be.
Now that the talismans had been revealed and the seal on the Ssu-Ling’s prison broken, they wondered what would happen now, if they would be seeing the Ssu-Ling.
Laira believed that they wouldn’t be as they would be weak from all their time trapped in their prison. She wanted them to focus on learning to use the talismans as weapons, thinking that it would only be a matter of time before they came under attack from that red-haired sehashi. Unlike the last two enemies they’d faced, this one they knew was here, and they knew she was coming. It was simply a matter of time.
And then one day, he’s not.
On his ninetieth birthday, a rumour starts that Thomas had never served in the army. Just an old man pretending to be a hero. As the story grows, the truth about Thomas is slowly revealed. But is it really the truth?
All Thomas Mirren wants is a simple life. He’s spent his whole life running away from the past. But it looks like the past is about to catch up with him.
A heart-warming story of love and friendship. And how we shouldn’t always believe what we read in the newspapers.

Most people assume that I'm slow. Some people are shocked that I'm smart enough to talk. I was emotionally delayed by 15 years. That diagnosis was based on a lack of empathy. For some reason I stopped maturing at 7. Luckily, I started again around 22 years old. Now that I'm 50, I have the mental age of a 35-year-old. It's no big deal now. But when I was 20, I had the mental age of a 7-year-old. It was a problem then.
In my book, Learning Empathy: The Memoirs of an Autistic Savant, these are my stories of how I learned empathy despite a life of institutional abuse. They say that Hard Lives Build Great Hearts and I am evidence that that is true.

Unlike Louan, he refuses to give up and is open to the most drastic measures – even if it puts his chapter of incubi and succubae at risk. When Cameo of the shades, the ninth and most feared chapter of spirits, comes to Lord Asmode in search of a mystical gem, Lior sees a new opportunity. Tasked with guarding the shade girl, he tries to get beneath her armor of indifference, ignoring all warnings that shades feed off spirits like spirits off humans.

Scotland, 1924 - After a man gets arrested with an unconscious boy in his car, detectives Gow and McKenzie unexpectedly find themselves at odds with each other. McKenzie makes a leap and wants to investigate the link with a nearby abandoned village, while Gow tries to cut off the investigation. But things turn ugly quickly when they discover the involvement of a child that doesn’t appear to be entirely natural.
Child of the Moon is a gripping mystery, hiding an unspeakable horror that will alter the lives of everyone involved.
I found a lot of comfort in Keat’s words, especially his neuroses and his fears, the fact that he wasn’t sure about his own abilities, as well as his love for nature and his talent for turning ideas on their heads with his uncertainty. What also struck me when reading his letters though was his jealousy concerning his love, Fanny Brawne. His lack of confidence sometimes made him mean in his letters. I sometimes wondered what would have happened if they had met in modern times – whether Fanny would have grown tired of the jealousy. What would have happened if Keats hadn’t died so young? In a later letter, Fanny even mentions that perhaps she ‘overrated’ Keats in her younger life.

Sorry about the mess.
So, I suppose I should start with some basics, eh?
I was born in Maine, didn't live there for long before my parents figured out that it was too bloody cold and moved south, all the way to Massachusetts. Grew up there and in Connecticut, lived in Maryland and Indiana for a while before moving back to Maine. Lived there for twenty years before I, too, decided the winters were too long. Of course, where do you to get away from long winters? COLORADO! Naturally. Married to a wonderful, inspirational, supportive woman; between us we have five kids, five dogs, and five cats.
Every author starts as a reader, and the same is true for me. Some of first 'real' books I remember are the Foundation series by Isaac Asimov, the Hornblower books by C.S.Forester, and Lad by Albert Payson Terhune. The, ah, let's just say 'eclectic' nature of these first few began a trend that continues today, as I read just about anything. You want a list? Okay. In no order (except as they occur to me):
Robert Heinlein. Dave Barry. Lisa Mantchev. John Ringo. David Weber. Isaac Asimov (yes, still). David R. Palmer. Spider Robinson. Randall Garrett. Richelle Mead. F.M. Busby. Frank Herbert. Kevin J. Anderson. W.E.B. Griffin. Clive Cussler. Gemma Halliday.
Is the picture coming into focus? No? Exactly. There's way too many authors out there to limit myself to a single one, or even a single genre, though I do tend to return to science fiction.
Like I said, thanks for dropping in! You can find me on Allauthor.com, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and on my website www.cassidychronicles.com. I love interacting with fans, but be warned: I often add my fans into my books!

Hew had always dreamt of being a knight. Take that, villain! Yes, princess, of course I'll rescue you. Thank you, your Majesty, yes I am great with a sword. Unfortunately, being a farmer's son made that dream impossible. Real life was more about cleaning animal mess and checking for weeds.
Until he met the dragon.
But there was a problem.
A blight to the north was making magic fade from the Earth. If it disappeared completely, then everyone would freeze to death.
Yes, that included Hew's annoying little sister, but even she didn’t deserve to be frozen. He would have to be brave and defeat this blight. The question was…
What could a nearly eleven-year-old do?

Commander Alex Coleman thought his career was over when he got sent to Armistice Station, an underwater megastation where you can buy everything except success in the U.S. Navy. Here, he waits for retirement, doling out sodas and supplies while keeping an eye out for and unruly sailors—hardly the things the Navy sends you to do when you’re a submariner on the fast track.
But things aren’t quiet in this underwater amusement park. French marines arrive with Indian Navy support. Both nations want the United States out of the Indian Ocean, and Alex, along with his eclectic band of castoff sailors, is the only one standing in their way.
Alex sure as hell doesn’t want to be a hero—because heroes don't explode coffee creamer fireballs or hijack cruise ships—but the shooting’s started, and he’s got a job to do.
Meanwhile, an American carrier strike group steams though the Straits of Malacca. Commander Nancy Coleman’s USS Fletcher (DDG 155) is on point, keeping an eye out for Chinese submarines that might stop her ships from arriving in time to aide Taiwan.
Cardinal Virtues is first book in the series War of the Submarine, also published as Season 1 of the War of the Submarine serial on Kindle Vella.

Hello all, I’m your typical nerd, IT work, polyglot, Fantasy Romance, loving guy. You know the usual stuff. I have a fantasy world that I created, and most of my writings will take place there as it took me a really long time to make it feel real and normal. So most of the time, I just write from what I know. I try to tackle or highlight many different issues and types of people while twisting the stereotypes of fantasy races. We have fun here.

Will they be able to navigate the health system and succeed in getting her the urgent operation needed, to prevent her from spending the rest of her life in a wheelchair? This adds tension to an otherwise gentle, amusing, highly descriptive story, filled with wonderful observations, funny clashes of culture and an entertaining learning curve for all concerned. The dialogue is so authentic, you can hear their voices. The characters appear real and 3-dimensional and the supporting cast of cats and dogs at times threaten to steal the show. This is a fulfilling and satisfying read, uplifting, positive and makes you long for a sequel.
This eagerly awaited sequel to Karen’s acclaimed and hugely popular first book “Another Day in Paradise” continues the story of life in the Algarve, its miracles and challenges as Karen lives with the aftermath of a spinal operation, gets herself through a gruelling language test hoping to gain citizenship and pursues her passion for rescuing cats and dogs, all of them characters in their own right.

When Harriet Howard becomes Louis Napoleon’s mistress and financial backer and appears at his side in Paris in 1848, it is as if she has emerged from nowhere. In this helpful book, Gabriel Constans leads the reader through fifty-two gentle and encouraging sessions planned to reconnect the body and soul. It takes courage and bravery, to honestly witness what we discover, inside and out, without turning away or getting caught in the content. In these dark, witty short stories, Katy Wimhurst creates off-kilter worlds which illuminate our own. Here, knitting might cancel Armageddon. A winged being yearns to be an archaeologist. Readers are sucked into a post-apocalyptic London where the different rains are named after former politicians. An enchanted garden grows in a rented flat. Magical realism meets dystopia, with a refreshing twist.
Advance Praise:
‘An iridescent, compelling collection. Darkly magical in all the right ways.’
- Irenosen Okojie, author of Nudibranch and Speak Gigantular
'Tales of the unexpected... a refreshing and humorous collection illuminating the author’s vast imagination and gift for merging people, place and politics in well crafted stories. Wimhurst’s cultural allusions and social commentary might make you laugh or glance sideways, but there are always sparks of human hope amongst the dystopian debris. One ticket here please, open return.'
- Emma Kittle-Pey, author of Gold Adornments and Fat Maggie.
‘These are fresh and exciting pieces, and I loved the sense of these unsettling off-kilter worlds, reminiscent of M John Harrison’s You Should Come With Me Now (Comma Press). I think readers will enjoy the author's skilful balance of wit and playfulness with dark and frightening things; magical realism with a melancholy and often chilling twist.’
- Anna Vaught, author of Saving Lucia and Famished.
'Katy Wimhurst finds hope in dystopias; colour in the bleakest of worlds. Her art is in combining charming whimsy with weighty social issues and, in the balance, delighting and surprising her reader. Her rich imagination and fresh, clean writing is, at all times, a pleasure.’
- Petra McQueen, founder of The Writers’ Company
‘Katy Wimhurst’s stories are enchanting. They appear beguilingly simple yet contain layers of meaning and mystery. Although often comical, each story has a hidden steel core – an environmental message that we need to cherish our planet and be compassionate to one another. She specialises in dystopias – in societies overwhelmed by the threats we fear – but even here the endings sound a positive note. We remain enchanted.’ - Dorothy Schwarz, author of Behind a Glass Wall and Simple Stories about Women.

The next step in his career: conquering the annual Invocation tournament, in which two dozen elite casters pit their magic and wit against each other for the chance at ultimate fame and fortune.
In the days before the tournament, a sinister force sabotages Nikkeah's ability to compete fairly, trapping him in the threads of a much darker plot that dismantles his glamorous life and sets him against his beloved city. Armed with little more than his outrage and wild magic, Nikkeah charges down the road to retribution. But what he discovers at the end may leave him with more questions than answers.
